Jigs are work piece holding and tool guiding devices. These are generally made of hardened steel where these are fabricated separately and joined together by welding. These are manufactured by machining, forging, casting etc. These are corrosive resistant, in sensitive thermally and corrosive resistant. The dimensional accuracy of the jigs will influence the operational performance of the application. Drilling jigs are largely used in the many operations. These drilling jigs are used to machine holes in the mechanical products in order to obtain positional accuracy. The bush plate is the position of the jig where the jig is positioned in to the harden bushes. These drilling jigs are clamped to the work piece or the work piece itself is housed in the jig body. The jig is held with hand during the drilling operation. A drill size is large enough to produce high torque or the drill jig is clamped to the drilling machine table. The drill jig is provided with the feet to rest or slide on the drilling machine table. These feet should provide solid support and it should be outside the cutting forces. The drilling of holes takes place at very high speed and accuracy with less skilled workers. They also produce inter changeable parts. Template jig is a simple plate of metal or wood that carries the exact locations of the holes that are to be made in the work piece. The size of this jig is to be same as the work piece size. This jig is overlapped with the work piece and the drilling action is done quickly. This jig avoids the marking operation completely.
Plate Type Jig:
Plate type jig is an improvement to the template jig where large scale works can be done. This jig uses a plate that is having drill pushes and is much suitable to hold and also locate the work that can clamp the plate and hold the drill through the bushes in exact positions.
Open Type Jig:
In this type of jig the jig is kept open and the work piece is placed on the base of the drill plate and the jig. The drill bushes are placed on the top for tool guidance. The drill plate is removed work piece is replaced after the operation is over.
Swinging Leaf type Jig:
These types of jigs carry a leaf or plate that is arranged at the top or on one side that has capability to swing about the fulcrum. It is normally a drill plate that is pivoted about at its end and the work is loaded or unloaded with the help of this swinging bolt.
Box Type Jig:
This box type jig is like a box that is used for the irregular components and that are to be operated at different places. These jigs provide rigid support where machining on the various place on the work piece can be done comfortably.
Solid Type Jig:
This jig is used for drilling holes in articles of simple shapes that are relatively very small in size and this is made of standard section of the rolled steel.

The pot type jig is used to drill hallow cylindrical components that have smaller size. The pot shaped jig will provide comfortable accommodation to the work piece. The component is provided by a clamp that projects the bush plate which is located over the top of work pieces.
These jigs provide positional division of the suitable work piece. This jig is used for quick drilling process for the equidistant holes on the circular surface of work piece. The drilling is done automatically by means of indexing method and a hole is drilled while the work piece is moved to the next position automatically.
These jigs are used where multiple operations to be performed simultaneously with the help of multiple spindle machine. Each individual spindle of the machine carries a separate tool in order to perform the different operations. All the tools and the spindles are arranged in order of the operations to be performed.
This tool performs large number of operations that have replaceable elements on them. This element selection and their arrangement depends on the sequence of operations to be performed.
